Why see a physiotherapist?
Physiotherapists have an advanced understanding of anatomy and pathology and enrich their skills through ongoing post graduate education. Physiotherapists are licensed by the College of Physical Therapists of Ontario which maintains a high standard of ethics and professionalism.
Why see a Registered Massage Therapist?
Massage Therapists have an intimate knowledge of the muscular system. The experienced therapist will be able to feel muscular pathology and resolve it using a gentle yet deep tissue technique. If you have a muscular related pain or tension issue a Massage Therapist is the professional to see.
Why see an Osteopath?
Manual Osteopaths look at your whole body to uncover your patterns of dysfunction. We then work on your joints, muscles, fascia, cranial membranes and viserca (organs) to ensure everything is relating properly and moving well.
The result is you feeling less pain, having more range of motion and more normal functional patterns being restored Often we can resolve pain and loss of mobility in a few visits. If it's a more chronic problem, we can help you maintain more range of motion and less pain in your daily life.
Why see an Exercise Therapist?
It is imperative that once our pain is under control and the root cause has been addressed that the body is moved in a safe, effective and targeted way so that the issue can be resolved and the body strengthened without reinjury. When a person comes to our clinic with an injury or pain issue the Manual Practioner (Physiotherapist, Osteopath, Massage Therapist) will assess and treat this issue and then once the root cause of the problem has been addressed the patient is encouraged to see the Exercise Therapist to be taken through a one-on-one exercise rehabilitation program that is targeted to strengthening the area to ensure full recovery and prevention of reinjury.
Is a doctor’s referral needed to see a clinician at MOVE Health?
No, a doctor’s referral is not necessary to see a physiotherapist, massage therapist or osteopath in Ontario. Although not mandatory, MOVE Health recommends that clients make an appointment with their doctor in order to keep him/her apprised of their health concerns.
We also advise clients to contact their medical insurance company as it may require a referral from their doctor to authorize reimbursement of our fee.
